Low Cost Life Jackets
Drowning is the second leading cause to unintentional death to children in the United States. Every year, our area sees drowning victims in our lakes, rivers and pools. In order to reduce those injuries and deaths, Safe Kids Pierce County offers various drowning prevention programs that coalition members can be involved in.
Another way to keep our children safe is offering life jacket loaner boards, where swimmers can borrow a life jacket while visiting the lake. This year, Safe Kids Pierce County was awarded the Kids Don't Float grant, which provided two life jacket loaner boards, one at Lake Tapps in Bonney Lake and the other at Spanaway Lake.
Be an active member of preventing these tragedies by offering low cost life jackets to your community. Stearns offers low cost life jackets to coalition members, which can be ordered through Mary Bridge.
