How the program works
This program entails two pieces, the educational PowerPoint presentations on various injury areas and a folder with materials to leave behind during a 9-1-1 response.
The PowerPoints are designed to teach emergency response crews the basics of injury prevention and help to be able to identify possible hazards. These presentations are designed to augment existing ongoing EMS training within your agency. They come with a quiz and answer key to help test the knowledge of your responders. An instructor guide is also available.
The materials folder is to be used during a "near miss" incident where information or a resource can be left behind for the patient or their family. Brochures include information on helmet safety, hypothermia, airway obstruction, car seat information, burn prevention, etc. For a list of resources to include in your agency's folders, see the WHAM Materials List.
